Hi, I’m June Jo Lee, food ethnographer, author, and cultural strategist.

Food is my portal into life. For more than two decades, I’ve done ethnographic fieldwork in both ordinary and extraordinary kitchens, studying shifting appetites, emotional cravings, and cultural patterns – often long before they appear in the data.

I bring this expertise into my work in three ways…

Food Ethnographer

Consulting for Food Systems Change

I advise senior leaders on the invisible cultural patterns shaping where food is heading. My work translates generational shifts into insights and strategy, helping organizations anticipate emerging desires, tell more resonant stories, and design offerings that nourish modern hungers for care, connection, and meaning.

Wunderland

Pop-ups for Cultural Transformation

I create immersive multisensory experiences that bring food ethnography to life. For businesses, pop-ups spark innovation and build cultural fluency. For educators, they offer experiential learning that deepens engagement through food, story, and empathy. Each experience invites participants to imagine new futures, one bite at a time.

Readers to Eaters

Childrens Press for Future Eaters

Together with my partner, I publish award-winning picture books and food literacy programs that help schools and libraries bring culture to life. Our books and author talks nurture curiosity, foster belonging, and give young readers tools to see themselves, their communities, and the wider world more fully, one reader and eater at a time.
